Historical Society of Wells & Ogunquit Overview

Historic Weddings is a perfect wedding venue in an 1862 Meetinghouse in seaside Wells, Maine. Cared for by the Historical Society of Wells & Ogunquit, the building is on the National Register of Historical Places on a site where there has been a meetinghouse since the year 1662, when the first settlers came to the town. Weddings are held in a beautiful light-filled space in the Gothic Revival style with historic original features, such as the pews and wood floors. The Meetinghouse seats 225-250. It has two aisles, an organ, and electric keyboard. We are an historic building, not a church, so there are no denomination restrictions. There is limited parking in our driveway and the use of an additional parking lot in next door. A donation of $500.00 includes use of the Meetinghouse for both the rehearsal and the ceremony. Meetinghouse rental hours are two hours for the rehearsal and decorating day and four hours for the wedding ceremony day. If the time periods are greatly exceeded, your security deposit will not be refunded.

Venue Notes

The rental fee is $500 for a ceremony and includes 4 hours of event time excluding set up and clean up time. Please inquire with the venue for reception options.
