Hearthstone Bakery and Tea House in Kamiah, Idaho offers guests a taste of everything fine. Harty and Marjorie Schmaehl opened their bakery in the summer of 2002, after spending a year restoring the historic brick building on Kamiah's Main Street. The elegant interior boasts a tin ceiling and a large archway between the Victorian and Peacock rooms. Victorian color schemes and furnishings are found throughout. Hidden for years by wooden facades inside and out, the interesting high windows have been restored to view. The fourteen foot high ceiling, and fascinating columns reminds old timers of the high mezzanine which once stood above the store floor where the store owner sat and watched his customers.
