Hill-Stead Museum Overview

Bring your dream wedding to life at the beautiful and historic Hill-Stead Museum. Nestled in Farmington, Connecticut, this picturesque venue was built in 1901 and is designated as a National Historic Landmark. For your special day, the estate offers stunning indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate intimate gatherings, luxurious celebrations, and everything in between. Its scenic outdoor venues include the majestic West Lawn and Veranda, which boasts stunning views of the Litchfield Hills; the charming Grass Court, the former grass tennis court surrounded with handcrafted stone walls and views of the Colonial Revival home; and the magical Sunken Garden, a Beatrix Farrand-designed one-acre perennial garden that blooms from early spring through autumn. Inside, the elegant Pope Board Room can be used to host an intimate party or as a spacious bridal dressing room, the Glass Room offers stunning views of the estate and the Arts and Crafts-style wood paneled Makeshift Theater offers a unique setting with a rustic feel for a year round event. With abundant historic charm and spectacular event spaces, the Hill-Stead Museum is the perfect place to host your upcoming wedding ceremony and reception!

Venue Notes

Celebrations with over 100 guests take place outdoors under a tent on one of the lawns for a fee of $8,500, celebrations of less than 100 have the option of taking place indoors in the Makeshift Theater for a fee of $6,000. Additional fees are $800 for a ceremony, $700 fire watch fee for a tented event and a refundable damage deposit of $500. Catering, equipment (including the tent), and event co-ordination are all arranged by you to give you a custom event and the perfect day.

- Alcohol must be served by licensed bartender/caterer- All trash and garbage must be removed from the site- Amplified music OK indoors and outdoors- Approved outside caterer allowed- General liability insurance required- LED candles only- Music must end by 10:00PM- No rice, birdseed, confetti, etc.- No smoking- Venue must approve all decorations- Wedding coordinator required- Wheelchair access limited
