Prior to 1932, the east branch of the Cuyahoga River meandered through a lush and beautiful ravine. Picnickers enjoyed many summer afternoons along its banks; vacationers escaped to cottages nestled around adjacent Crystal Lake and along the river's edge. When the City of Akron began purchasing land in Geauga County in 1932, a dam was built on the land and a reservoir created to serve the area. This peaceful stillness of the reservoir creates a magnificent backdrop for your special day—especially with the history and charm of the land and natural landscape. Crystal Lake Shelter, named for the area enjoyed by picnickers of a bygone era, provides an open shelter that is perfect for a casual and fun yet elegant wedding celebration.
