State of Iowa Historical Building Overview
The State Historical Museum of Iowa, located in the Historic East Village Neighborhood in Des Moines, is available for your special day! The museum offers a variety of event spaces to accommodate all group sizes. The sky-lit Atrium is especially suited for an exciting evening wedding reception. This large and open space is situated immediately beyond the main entrance doors and is surrounded by fascinating exhibits that will prove to be intriguing and memorable for your guests. You may also consider the Cowles-Kruidenier Auditorium, which offers a beautiful view of the State Capitol and downtown Des Moines. Lastly, the State Historical Building’s Grand Terrace offers a simple yet stunning space for a lively seated reception. The rental fee for a reception is $2,500 and includes 10 hours of event time including set up and clean up time. Catering is not included with the venue and must be arranged with a third party vendor. A security fee of $50 per hour and custodial fee of $150 is applied to all events.
