The John Marshall Ballrooms Overview

The Hotel John Marshall opened in 1929 as the largest hotel in Virginia. Its rooms welcomed Elizabeth Taylor, Mary Tyler Moore, and Elvis Presley along with political figures such as Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Carter. After sitting vacant for over 20 years the building recently underwent a total renovation, spanning two years of construction, to strip it back to the bones and restore it to its original beauty. The historic John Marshall Ballrooms now offer a lovely venue for your special day. The Lobby opens with a marble staircase and palladium window. The original Terrazo flooring follows through to the Richmond Room where you will find a built-in bar and pre-function space for a cocktail hour. To the left is the grand Marshall Ballroom, adorned with nine vintage crystal chandeliers, three walls of 30' windows, and lead-paned glass encased in elaborate handcrafted moldings. Behind the Marshall ballroom is the Virginia Ballroom, featuring a wrap around balcony that leads into the main floor from a split staircase for a magnificent grand entrance. With such an impressive flow of spaces for your big day, the John Marshall Ballrooms have everything you need!
